Hello!
As a professor, I hope to inspire students to create communication that is highly effective and helps make a positive difference in the world. Currently, I am the director of and a professor for the MA in Strategic Communication degree program at the University of Iowa.
My Ph.D. is in Mass Communication, with an emphasis in Environmental Risk Communication, my Master of Public Health is in Community and Behavioral Health, and my B.A. is in Communication Studies.
When I am not teaching, I conduct research, consult, and develop communication workshops within the nexus of science communication, sustainability, and health. I enjoy working with engineers and other scientists, to help ensure their work is shared and promoted to the people who it effects.
I have also worked on several water, sanitation, and hygiene campaigns in India and Haiti and continue to conduct research related to media influences on sustainable farming practices.

In 2019, I started WaterWoman Sustainability Education, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization which helps support my forthcoming sustainability adventure series for kids, The Adventures of WaterWoman™.

Outside of my professional life, I try to get outside as much as possible. I love hiking, paddle boarding, yoga, skiing and generally enjoying nature with my family and our animals.
